Recent Graduated Theatre Arts/TV Film/NJIT Theatre Students:
Marsha E. Jones
I am a proud alumni of the theater program at Rutgers/NJIT.
During my enrollment at Rutgers University, I received an education that has
enhanced my career in the performing arts. I was very fortunate to had professors,
such as Michele Rittenhouse, Seth Baumrin, Dan Drew, Adrian Royce, Bill Gile
and several others that are champions in the field of the visual and performing
arts. The education that one gets from the theater program far exceeds textbook
information. What further enhances the program is the educators are practioners
in the field. Many time educators don't have applied knowledge and teach classes
with theory or "what they think they know." This is not the case with the NJIT-Rutgers
program! Most of the professors that I've had 'know what they know' because
they have worked in the theater in one capacity or several.
I'm currently employed at the New Jersey Performing Arts
Center (NJPAC). On Monday, Dec 19, we will be having our annual holiday party.
This year's theme is a Holiday Talent Extravaganza. My colleagues have been
supportive of the theater education that I received at Rutgers. So much that
I was made the Director of the holiday talent performance segment of the party.
My colleagues developed the trust by watching me perform or direct several performances
at the university. When students leave the theater program at the university,
they have an education that can take them to any Broadway house in New York
City or Community Theater. I hope the program continues because it will only
get better.
Respectfully
